1 |
Flight from Paris
to Tana, the capital city of Madagascar. |
| Day 2 |
Arrival at the airport, welcome
and transfer to the hotel. Walking in the botanical and zoological
Park of Tsimbazaza with its various species of typical plants
and animals, especially the lemurs. Visit of the ethnological
an paleonthological museums. |
Day
3 |
Transfer to Miandrivazo, 430
km in the south-west of Tana. It will be the place of departure
for the canoe-trip along the river of Tsiribihina. |
Day
4-7 |
Canoe-trip on the same river.
The descent will last 4 days and 3 nights. You will see wild
lemurs, ducks, birds, insects, snakes... (there is no poisonous
snakes in Madagascar), butterflies. Field glasses are necessary.
You will go through green narrow passes, make stops at interesting
places such as amazing waterfalls and natural swimming-pool.
By the same opportunity, you will learn about the simple life
of the hospitable peasants. In the evening you will camp on
the bank of the river, where the local guide will prepare delicious
Malagasy dishes for you. |

7 |
Arrival in Belo sur Tsirbihina,
end of the canoe-trip. Transfer to Morondava 160 km. This town
is known for its thousands of baobabs which can live up to 5000
years. The main sight-seeings are: the Kirindy Park and the
« Allée de baobabs » with its wonderful sunset. |

Flight from Morondava to Tana. |

Tana-Antsirabe
(170 km) |
Departure for Antsirabe by car
in the Highlands through the green ricefields. The town was
built by the Norwegian missionaries and is famous for its rickshaws,
thermal springs, semi-precious an precious stones. The visit
of the stone cutter factory is a must. |

10
Antsirabe-Fianarantsoa (240 km) |
Transfer to the crater lake,
renowned for its tales. Visit of a typical peasent family. Continuation
to Ambositra, capital of the Zafimaniry region, known for its
sculpture and marquetery. Transfer to Fianarantsoa, the second
biggest town after Tana and the administrative centre of the
Betsileo tribe. |

Fianarantsoa- Ranomafana- Fianarantsoa
(120 km) |
Excursion to the national Park
of Ranomafana, where the golden bamboo lemur was rediscovered
in 1989. Several endemic animal species can be observed very
closely: birds, chameleons, frogs, insects, lemurs... Visit
of a smiths’ village in the surroundings. Heading back
to Fianara. |

Fianarantsoa-Ranohira (300 km) |
City-tour in Fianara. Tranfer
to Ambalavao, the place of vineyard and the biggest zebu-market
of the island. Stop at the Antaimoro paper manufacturing centre;
nice papers are made from papyrus-similar-plant, the so called
« Avoha » and decorated with many flowers. You have
left the Hauts-Plateaux and enter the Bush in the South. In
the next town Ihosy, the capital of the Bara tribe (almost shepherds)
you will meet Bara people with spears and large zebu herds;
a sign of riches in the southern region. Continuation through
the grasslands of Horombe to the ruined forme massif of Isalo,
home for lemurs and sapphire. |

Ranohira |
Walking in the national Park
of Isalo, to the « natural swimming-pool »; a paradisiac
oasis in the middle of the ruined form massif. The tombs of
the Bara people are placed between the rocks in the Park. Birds,
snakes, lemurs... live there. Before getting dark you will enjoy
the sunset at «la fenêtre de l’Isalo ».
Nice palm-trees remind you of the Arabian landscapes. |
Day 14
Ranohira-Tuléar
(240 km) |
Traveling towards Tuléar.
On your way you will see the fantastic baobabs that can be used
as water reservoir for the inhabitants. On this day you will
see the famous big Mahafay tombs. These are particularly interesting
because of the sceneries representing the daily life of the
deceased. Transfer to the hotel. |
Day 15
Flight from
Tuléar to Tana |
City- tour, visit of the shell
market and the oceanografical museum. Walking in the nice Arboretum
of Mr. Petignat, a Suissman. More than 400 plant species, indigenous
to the South grow in this flora world such as the succulents
and the didieraceas. It is possible to see the smallest lemurs
of the island if you are lucky. Flight to Fort-Dauphin. |
Day 16
Tana-Périnet
(142 km) |
Transfer to Marozevo, 72 km
from the capital city. Visit of the exotic farming centre of
Mr. Pereyras. Transfer to Périnet 70 km. Nocturnal walking
in the Reserve of Périnet. |

Visit of the Reserve of Périnet.
Travel back to Tana. Flight to Paris |
